The Old Town
Painted facades, café terraces, and the Black Church. Walkable, well-preserved, and the heart of daily life.

Transylvania's showpiece city. Medieval streets, Carpathian peaks, and dental care you can plan a real holiday around.
Get to know the city
Brașov is one of Transylvania's great Saxon citadel cities, founded in the 13th century and shaped over centuries by Romanian, Hungarian, and German communities. Its old town sits inside the original walls, with cobbled lanes, painted Baroque facades, and the Black Church (Biserica Neagră) anchoring the central square.
The mountains are part of daily life here. Tâmpa rises directly behind the old town, accessible by cable car, and the Bucegi and Piatra Craiului national parks are within easy reach. Bran Castle, often associated with the Dracula legend, sits 25 kilometres to the southwest.
For patients combining dental treatment with a longer stay, Brașov is one of the more genuinely enjoyable bases in Romania. The pace is slower than Bucharest or Cluj, the food scene leans into mountain traditions, and the city centre is small enough to navigate on foot.

While you're here

Painted facades, café terraces, and the Black Church. Walkable, well-preserved, and the heart of daily life.

25 kilometres from Brașov, perched on a cliff. The Dracula association draws crowds, but the building itself is genuinely worth the visit.

Tâmpa cable car for the city panorama, or a longer day in the Bucegi or Piatra Craiului national parks for serious walking.
Most patients need 7–10 days in Romania across two visits. Brașov is one of the few cities where the days between appointments feel like an actual holiday rather than waiting time.
The city's own airport opened for commercial service in 2023, and Wizz Air has kept expanding its Western European network since, adding six new routes in 2025. For many Western European patients, Brașov is now a direct destination, not a transfer one.
Before any Brașov clinic reaches your shortlist, it passes the same vetting as my established cities: personal visits, recommendations from clinics I already trust, and a hard look at how it communicates with patients and handles follow-up.
At internationally oriented clinics, English is the standard working language. German is also present, reflecting the historic Saxon heritage of the broader Transylvania region.
Romania is an EU member state, so EU Directive 2011/24/EU on cross-border healthcare applies. You retain rights to reimbursement and legal recourse under EU consumer law.
I am actively building my Brașov clinic relationships. If you are considering treatment here, contact me early: I will match you with the right clinic and coordinate everything once your plan is confirmed.
